BIG BOSS THURSDAY: “I’m Audrey Horne and get what I want”

Halloween has come and gone, and I didn’t get up to much revelry.

Spoiler: in the 2016 'Twin Peaks' reboot, Kristen Schaal will play the role of Audrey

Sweater: Franken-blend of A Cropped Sweater for Winter and Babs, knit in Cascade 220; necklace, from a booth at SoWa Open Market; skirt, Mode Merr; shoes, Fluevog Operetta Malibran

I did, however, spend the days after basically cosplaying Audrey Horne.

BIG BOSS THURSDAY: Little Lab of Video

Our lab will be featured in a promotional video about the University.  While our Fearless Leader gave an on-camera interview, the director wanted to feature members of the lab as well.  I hadn’t had a chance to don my plumage last week and had worn my Audrey II skirt, which the crew loved — the makeup artist was “obsessed” with my skirt, and the DP started singing “Feed Me, Seymour” when he saw me.

So, of course, I got a glamour-girl makeup job and a brief interview.

BIG BOSS THURSDAY: Seersucker after Labor Day

2007-12-31 23.00.00-11

Sweater: Seberg by Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark, knit from Cascade 220  || Skirt: vintage || Tights: Hue || Shoes: Fluevog Hope || Bangles, vintage via Etsy || earrings, Leetie Lovendale

This skirt is one-half of a suit I wear on summer job interviews.  I liked how it looked with this sweater and figured I’d give it one last go-round with a pair of tights.  I hope the navy blue tights and sweater don’t make me look like I’m wearing a onesie.

Somehow, Thursdays have mutated into Lucy Van Pelt Day, and reader, I am okay with that.

BIG BOSS THURSDAYS: Speaking of Lucy Van Pelt…

Working at an academic press means that I can show up to work in my pajamas four days a week and no one will bat an eyelash.  On Thursdays, however, I must refrain from rocking the creepers and take the safety pins out of my ears, for the head of the department keeps office hours on “Little Friday”.  That’s right: Thursdays are Big Boss Days.

…except that the Big Boss wasn’t in this week.  Also, I had the mother of all crap days, so it seems appropriate…

…that I inadvertently cosplayed as Lucy Van Pelt today.

BIG BOSS THURSDAY: Feed me, Seymour

Working at an academic press means that I can show up to work in my pajamas four days a week and no one will bat an eyelash.  On Thursdays, however, I must hang up the harness and leave the “Touch Me, I’m Dick” tee shirt at home, for the head of the department keeps office hours on “Little Friday”.  That’s right: Thursdays are Big Boss Days.

BREAKING: I have been cast as Audrey in Prince's 'Little Shop of Horrors' remake

Sweater: Miss Norma Jeane, knit by me || skirt, Pinup Girl Clothing || tights, who knows || shoes, Fluevog Zaza || fascinator, SoWa Open Markets

This skirt was my reward for finally getting a job.  Since Big Boss was traveling today, I figured I’d wear it to work.  The grad students were amused by it, so maybe I’m doing something right.

Ye gods, I need a haircut.  I’m starting to look like a Wookiee.

BIG BOSS THURSDAYS: All Bakelite, all the time

Working at an academic press means that I can show up to work in my pajamas four days a week and no one will bat an eyelash.  On Thursdays, however, I must fold up the crust pants and wash off the space punk makeup, for the head of the department keeps office hours on “Little Friday”.  That’s right: Thursdays are Big Boss Days.

Yellow dress

Dress: Fashioned by Claire Evans, via Etsy ||  Bakelite bangles: Cambridge Antiques Market  || Shoes: Fluevog Mini Zaza

After I found my bandana dress on the Buffalo Exchange Airstream, I’ve kept an eye out for dresses from Fashioned By Claire Evans. The cut of the dress works with my figure and her novelty print game was on point. (If anyone sees this dress in the wild, let me know, K?)  Not only is Big Boss Lady in the office, but we’re having a luncheon in honor of our new grad students.  Celebrations all around, before the real work starts.
