This November I am embarking on a new novel for NaNoWriMo — “His Nibs Slept Here”, the story of a girl who promotes a show for her reclusive punk rock hero, only to find out that she’s not good at promoting and he’s kind of a coot.
It is most emphatically not autobiographical. Not even a skosh.
If the book had a theme song, it would be “Under the Hedge”, a soaring pop song by Jersey punk/singer-songwriter hero Ted Leo. The song may be about that time he opened for Guided by Voices, which went down as well as can be expected. Ted Leo is in the pantheon of favorite artists for aging indie rockers (and the music director for Julie Klausner‘s podcast “How Was Your Week”), so I probably don’t need to tell you that he’s great, right?
